Yes, Gloria is right.  Once you are sworn into military service, you are pretty much theirs and "needs of the service" come first.  My personal experience on active duty (got out when my trio was born) was that breastfeeding was supported as long as the mother could also support the mission.  I heard tales of woman who went out in the field, took their hand pumps, put their EBM on dry ice, and had the chaplain take it back to the base for the father to pick up.  I remember sending out letters with information about the benefits of breastfeeding from our pediatric clinic to commanding officers for women who felt they were not able to express their milk at work.   Also, women are not eligible to be deployed and do not have to take physical fitness tests until 6 months after their delivery, but they do have to return to work at 6 weeks.  My personal thoughts were that active duty and triplets did not go together very well, but with one baby, I probably would have stayed on active duty.
