Michelle, a few years ago I had a mother in a similar situation - multiple bouts of mastitis. We tried everything,including lecithin, but nothing seemed to help. One day we were talking on the phone when it slipped out that her husband was an alcoholic who went into rages when he drank. A light went off in my head! It turned out that her attacks of mastitis happened shortly after each of his binges!

STRESS!

Do you think it is possible that your client might be suffering from stress? You mentioned that she had a 6 year old with special needs. How is this child reacting to the birth of a sibling? Does she get any help taking care of her older child? Has the older child recently encountered anything else new, like a new class or teacher, that might be causing disruptive behaviour at home? I am sure that knowing the particulars of this case, you will be able to think of a lot of other questions! Perhaps some information on how to simplify her life and stress-reducing techniques might be of use.
