I don't know of research, but in my case avoiding dairy did not seem to 
help. I drank some cow's milk during my first pregnancy, and my son was very 
sensitive to dairy and I needed to eliminate it while breastfeeding. When I 
became pregnant again, I was still nursing him so continued to avoid dairy 
for that reason, and also because I hoped this might prevent my next baby 
from becoming sensitized. It didn't - she is allergic to dairy even as an 
adult.
