I went to Dr. Hale's session at the LLLI Conference in July, and he
said that in this *one* instance (which is where this recommendation
is coming from I believe) it was an inability of the mother to
metabolize the codeine, which is a very rare circumstance. Are there
other instances where this has been a problem? If not, this seems like
a blanket recommendation for no reason.

He also said that baby was seen (I believe) three times by a physician
and all the warning signs were missed.
