I work in a pediatric office and have a neocate rep and have talked to her
on many occasions! Neocate is an amino acid formula - specifically for
babies with dairy/soy intolerance. It is not used to break down milk
proteins. It has no milk proteins in it, thus is better tolerated by these
babies. "Neocate is specifically formulated for the dietary needs of
infants with milk and multiple food protein allergies, and related
conditions. Neocate is better tolerated than soy and hydrolysate formulas
among a higher proportion of infants with these conditions." The
hydrolysate formulas: nutramigen and alimentum do contain dairy and soy -
tho more broken down. For the infants who still struggle on these, neocate
is a good option.
