I remember sitting in the ER nursing my 15 month old daughter 34 years
ago. She had a butterfly IV needle in her scalp. Her (at that time)
routine smallpox immunization caused her to run a high fever and refuse
all food and fluids except what she got at breast.

Am I ever glad she was still breastfeeding, and that no one thought it
necessary to give her multiple doses because of it. I shudder to think
what might have happened. It was scary enough as it was!
