In case you didn't know, a great number of the Calif. queen producers
exclusively use Brewer's Yeast and corn syrup, mixed in cement mixers,
for an early spring protein boost.  Brewer's Yeast, I am told, is the
primary ingredient in every pollen supplement or pollen substitute
that is sold.

I have no personal experience with the product, but some of those I
respect swear by it so I believe it works.  Here in the great
northeast, patties should be put on about now as we are just about 60
days away from our first flows.  The difficulty is that yards can't be
got to by truck, and the fields have 9"-15" of snow.  While snowshoes
would do the job, it is too easy to wait for red maple bloom about
March 20.  So, we let the bees build on the first flows...we know
better, but we don't do better.
