Nancy, Re bee statistics...Dadant has some wonderful handouts that has
answers to your specific question and many other as well.  Write or call
them.  I've used them when speaking to school groups and kids are fascinated
to discover that it takes bees about a million trips to make a pound of honey
(or something like that....do check with Dadant for the actual figures.)
