I asked: Is there a correlation between mite susceptible bees and amitraz resistant mites?

Nobody picked up the thread. I think it's worth considering what effects the selection process is having on both these organisms. According to Eliash and Mikheyev (2019):

• Breeding bees for Varroa tolerance has largely ignored potential mite adaptation.

• Varroa genetic diversity is greater than previously envisioned and they adapt rapidly.

• We suggest that tolerance is best viewed as a ‘shared trait’ of hosts and parasites.

• Focusing on the interaction between partners can inform research and breeding.

• Data can help improve our Varroa management strategies by, for example, contributing the development of rational pesticide rotation and selection of bee lines to tolerate current local Varroa populations.
