Hi All,

This was passed on to me:
Randy,

I have been told by the California port of entry authorities that the CDFA
offices are closed due to employee furloughs the first three Fridays of each
month. So, if a truck (no matter what they are hauling) going through a port
on a Friday has a pest issue that requires a CDFA identifier's expertise it
is very likely one won't be available until that coming Monday. So the truck
will get turned back or have to wait.

Also, CDFA has a new facility at Truckee so they are able pull trucks off to
a secure area and unload them and take their time to do more thorough
inspections.

Let me add that CalTrans is finishing up major work on I-80 in the Sierra.
Last week they were still detouring trucks at night onto narrow and winding
Hwy20. Long waits.

Randy Oliver
