During one of the CCD hearings in DC a couple of years ago...the hearing that Richard Adee testified at if I recall...a cucumber grower in North Carolina reported that he had changed the focus of his operation so he no longer had to rely on renting honey bees for pollination. He didn't quit growing food, but he quit growing cukes because of an anticipated shortage of bees.
