I was somewhat surprised to see myself so high in the ratings!
Now I am concerned that readers will be convinced that that I do not have 'a
life'! I certainly do, and my postings to Bee-L or other lists (mainly the
Irish List) reuslt either due to a feeling that I have to respond to a post
in order to provide balance, or because I genuinely believe that I am
providing something that is useful to the debate. I could easily retreat
into my own shell, but almost feel a responsibility to contribute after 30
years of benefiting from advice and opinions freely given by others. I
could easily use the time, selfishly, for my own benefit and simply monitor
the lists for anything that might be useful to me, i.e. take and no give.
However, I am often somewhat depressed to find that my posts seem to get
minimal response, which I believe results from the lists obsession with
events in the US and Canada, although Juanse and Trevor in particlular
provide some welcome relief at times. I would love the list to become more
of a universal resource, rather than one focused on US 'parochial' matters.
Best wishes
Peter
