I read this article today and I don't know how I feel about it. It's enticing to think that screwing with honey bee genes could somehow eliminate their issues with mites and diseases, but the reality would probably be grim and have many terrible and unforeseen (not to mention long lasting) consequences. What does the BEE-L community think about the idea of genetically engineered bees?
