In practice, it was much easier to sell as 'fish food'.
Trying to convince western consumers to eat bee brood is difficult. Mike Burgett used to cook things for his entomology classes, based in part, on food product in Thailand, I think.
So scrambled drones were on the menu, as were cookies made with dried, ground insect body 'flour'. He once said he had to resort to throwing in some Grape Nuts cereal. Without the crunch, the students weren't convinced that he'd used insect parts!
