Unfortunately you are talking about two different plants.  Tea tree oil
comes from the Genus Melaleuca, Manuka from the genus Leptospermum.  Sure
the common names are confusing but it is always worth checking before
sending off a blast.  Both tea tree oil and Manuka honey work as to kill
bacteria and are useful for topical use.  

Whether they are overpriced is a matter for the user to decide.  I think
that rotten grape juice is over priced at any price, but many others think
it is priceless.
