We recently had an 18 month old on the pediatric floor with newly diagnosed Diabetes. The child nurses several times each 24 hours and this is an important part of this mother's parenting. The hospital nutritionist and attending doc apparently told the mother that the illness would not be manageable unless she weaned immediately.
I have only worked with one other baby with this condition (several years ago). That mom gave up breastfeeding very early on.

Does anyone have any resources for this family? thanks,
