LLL had a legal advisor for many years named Elizabeth Baldwin, and  
much of her material is available on the LLLI website.  Some of it is  
outdated, but she makes several very good points.  One of them, very  
hard to hear for us on a list like this, is that in the context of the  
parenting journey breastfeeding is a relatively small portion of it  
(even if one gets to age 5, that's still less than a third of the  
amount of time a child will commonly spend with a parent before  
launching).    Elizabeth noted that protecting breastfeeding in the  
vast majority of cases isn't worth losing custody rights over.   
Obviously if there are significant medical issues that might be  
different, and hopefully an MD would be willing to get involved.     
But if the breastfeeding has become an issue in court, and especially  
with an older nursling, this may not be a battle worth picking.
