This morning I had a call from a very distressed mother. She sleeps with her
8 month old infant. This week he developed pneumonia. Her pediatrician told
the mother that the cause was nursing while sleeping. I told her that I
have never heard of this occuring ( and a few other negative things about the
statement). What do my wise sisters (brothers) have to say about this M.D.'s
comment?

Also, our new neonatologist have started a completely different practice.
They are testing babies with questionable swallowing ability by feeding
sterile water instead of breastmilk. Can anybody give me some references in
defense of this practice. How about references to defend using breastmilk or
colostrum?

Thank you

Andrea Herron
