Are breastfed babies the only ones who get the "infant acne"? I think not.
Both of my breastfed babies had it beginning at about 2 weeks, just when
we were ready to take them out to show them off. :< It cleared by 4-5 weeks.

I was told that it was the oil glands' beginning to produce natural oils
and that it was common to most infants. It was compared to puberty when
there is another surge. I was also advised to not wash the baby's face
with soap in hopes of "drying it up" quicker. That would irritate and delay
the natural environment of the skin, prolonging the skin eruptions.

I have known breastfed babies who didn't have the acne at all so I think
that the oil gland idea makes more sense. I am surprised that the doctor
had not seen infant acne in any formula-fed infants.
