Tina,  I was wondering how often this mother was breastfeeding while she was
engorged?  Also how effectively was her baby able to empty the breast?
These two factors could impact her milk supply more than the cabbage leaves.
Another thought is that the heated leaves may have exacerbated the
engorgement therefore impeding the breast from emptying well, then the lose
of milk supply.  One of the effective factors of the cabbage leaves is their
coolness.  I would never recommend using heat with them.
I tell mothers with engorgement to use minimal heat or none at all.
