In our teaching tool, The Diaper Diary (affectionately called "the Poop
Page"), we show a picture of a disposable diaper with 3 tablespoons on top
of it that mimics the typical urine output of a newborn.  This is a way to
help parents learn how to judge the wetness of one of the absorbant diapers.
