This discussion points out one of the biggest problems in getting full
research-based evidence about anything related to breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding advocates are often criticized for not basing our actions,
etc. on "pure research". Is it possible to ehtically divide groups into
"breastfeed" and "don't breastfeed" factions in order to get truly
"pure" double blind results? Not if you really believe breastfeeding is
best. Not even if you truly believe it is "mom's choice". This is
really one of ourfrustrations and challenges. Unfortunately, for those
who don't want to believe there's a significant difference, it provides
a loophope so they can find an excuse to ignore the research that is
available.
This is one thing that I think is so great about our "Evedence Based..."
book. It describes and accepts several levels of "evidence".

Winnie
