Message to Susan Goodridge, NFLD,
If mother has heavy bleeding and clots at three weeks post-partum, she
should also be checked for possible retained placental fragments. This
may be a reason for her low milk supply, although with all the other
problems going on. any one or combination may be responsible. Re: Use
of SNS, I suggest taping the tubing beside the mother's nipple using
something like Micropore tape before she prepares to feed the baby. Tape
should be placed length-wise along tubing rather than across, because it
tends to flip up when placed crosswise. Good luck. Eileen Shea
