As  an obstetrician, I've been watching the discussion about GBS and
Candida with great interest.  Frankly, I think the concern about Candida
after
only a few doses of antibiotic (GBS is treated only during labor, unless
the mother becomes clinically ill; I'm limiting my comments to the
prophylactic
use of antibiotics as propounded by the CDC, ACOG, and AAP) is exager-rated,
and have only rarely encountered clinical infections with Candida after
such short-term use.  But the use of hydrogen peroxide douches in pregnancy
or intrapartum, or post-partum  could be very dangerous, even fatal.
 Furthermore, it wouldn't work for very long, since the mother is colonized
with GBS in her rectum and/or vagina, and the GBS always returns a few
weeks after antibiotics, let alone local antiseptic therapy.  There seems to
be no increased proportion of moms with thrush, etc., in my patients who
have GBS and get antibiotics.  I hope someone else has some  better
