Test weights with a sensitive scale can be excellent tools. As with any
tool, scales/weights should be used judiciously. To verify that a baby has
in fact taken in milk at breast is one use; to verify that the baby has NOT
effectively taken milk is just as important in some situations.

Mums can be overconfident or under-confident - a good scale can wake up the
overconfident, and reassure the under-confident. I have an article on this
topic on my web page http://www.bflrc.com/myths/gadgets.htm which I
originally posted on Lactnet a long time ago.
