This is strictly personal experience. I have on two separate occasions had
tender lumps appear in my armpit. Once while nursing my 2yo and about a
month after he weaned (at 3yo-maybe nine months later). During the first
occurrence I saw an OB and we thought maybe they were folliculitis
(sp?)...an ingrown hair or clogged pore. The Dr felt they may also be
swollen lymph glands. I believed in the latter explanation because I was
sick and run down during both outbreaks and as I healed they disappeared.

Of course when something like this occurs the patient (ok, me) may not be
able to keep from palpitating, squeezing the lumps, etc. Maybe this could
prolong the irritation?

Just a thought....
