I was contacted by a woman who is pregnant with her first child, and who had
a mastectomy of one breast for estrogen-receptor positive breast cancer 6
years ago. She took Tamoxifen for four years following the surgery, and
stopped when she became pregnant. Her oncologist is advising her to
breastfeed for only a few months so that she can resume the fifth year and
final year of Tamoxifen. She would like to breastfeed for longer before
resuming the medication, and is trying to weigh the benefits of weaning
early to resume the medication vs. the reduction in breast cancer risk from
breastfeeding (and all of the other reasons to breastfeed).

She would appreciate the names of any breastfeeding-friendly oncologists
with whom she could consult. Please reply off-list. Thank you!
