Barbara,
I think that discussion of the impact of circumcision on breastfeeding is
suitable for lactnet.  I have seen ritually circumcised infants with
difficulty feeding for several days after the surgery when breastfeeding
was not well established prior to the circ.  This seems to be the key,
and the reason why we see more hospital circ'd babies with feeding
problems, those 7 days provide some time for the baby to learn to
breastfeed and learn to take comfort from nursing before they are
challenged with pain.
