Elaine--

Get this mom a copy of Dr. Linda Folden Palmer's "Baby Matters." It has
all the documented evidence she needs to fend off the doctor who wants
her to wean, as well as gobs of information on elimination diets. It is
quite possible that the baby is allergic to chicken, and even to rice.
I would suggest that she try lamb, millet, and squash for a few days and
see what that does, and to triple check that her commercial baby foods
contain *zero* additives. Rice cereal is rarely only rice.

Nutramigen and Alimentum both contain dairy, just more broken down and
still often allergenic, and I think they both use coconut oil (common
allergen). Neocate is one that is broken all the way down to amino
acids, but it contains a huge amount of corn (another common allergen)
syrup, and costs $80 per week.
