Good afternoon,

I am visiting Lactnet after an interval due to pressure of work. This time I
have a request. I can't for the life of me find the origin of something I've
quoted, verbally, for many years. The statement is: "Breastfeeding is a
confidence trick." I think I may have heard it in a presentation by T.
Berry Brazelton over twenty years ago, but I could be wrong. I suspect this
is a quotation that has been passed on and on. So - wise women - can anyone
place its origins, or at least its first appearance in print?

Any replies, please copy to me privately, as well as posting on Lactnet as I
may not have time to go through all messages this week.

Virginia
