No scientific studies or extensive observations here - just one mother's
experience. My daughter got her first tooth on her 6 month birthday. The
first - and only - time she bit down my immediate (no thought) reaction
was to force my index finger between her gums, then twist it fast to
release her grasp. I guess it must have been pretty rough and unpleasant
because she cried for a few seconds until she returned to nursing. She
NEVER again bit for the remaining year and a half of nursing.
Joan
