Hello to everyone! I am a childbirth educator with a desire to start a
mother to mother breastfeeding support group for mothers who need
encouragement and help when they go home from the hosp. A resident pedia in
the nursery of a private hosp. called me for help. The mother's pedia wants
the mother to bf completely and want the mother to join a support group. The
mother has never bf her premature baby and doesn't have much milk. Her baby
has been in the hosp. for 3 months now and is already 3 lbs. She will be
taking her baby home in about 3 days time. So far the baby has been fed
through a tube going to her stomach, from other mother's milk. I am not a
doctor or an LC. All I am is an experienced mother who bf 3 of my own
children, 7 months the longest, with a desire to help mothers bf. Can
anybody help me in this one? How can the mother inc. her milk supply? Will
the premature baby be able to suck from her breast? Help! For any comments,
email me privately. Thank you. Rose Marie, from the Philippines.
