What is the status of test weighing in LC practice?

Given that it is not part of the "normal" evaluation of mothers, is it a
valid intervention and if so, when?

I have noted that it is not described in Riordan (4th ed.) or the Core
Curriculum. It is in Make More Milk by Diana West and in Genna's
"Supporting Sucking Skills". I find it strange to be missing in the former
2 "basic" texts we use.

Assuming careful practice ie accurate scale, dry diaper, no change in
clothing etc.
