First, let me say that I encourage moms to continue bf while pregnant
unless they have a history of spontaneous abortion or their physician has
ruled out sexual intercourse due to a risk factor...

But I must point out that while during LACTATION the needs of the baby will
be met even at a cost to mother, this is NOT true for PREGNANCY. On a
hierarchical scale, pregnant moms come before fetuses for most nutrients.
So, it is imperative to the health of the fetus that the mom be
super-nourished, with a very healthful diet and prenatal vitamin and
mineral supplement every day.

Finite supply of nutrients---> first to nursing child-----> then to
mom-----> last to fetus

It's do-able, but the best outcome demands careful attention to diet.
Also, of course, a good diet will boost the mother's immune system, and
here again there may be effects on the fetus if the maternal immunities are
compromised.
