#2. question: a pregnant patient w/ twins went into preterm labor several
times before she delivered. Each time she was tocolyzed w/ IV
MgSO4.(Magnesium sulfate) and after each tocolysis she noticed copious
colostrum leaking the next day or two. She reported her breasts felt fuller,
even somewhat harder. This fullness dissipated ofter a day or 2, as did the
leaking. I've been thinking of the possible mechanisms: any labor is induced
by endogenous oxytocin, which also causes the milk ejection reflex. but her
experience is not the norm. Why?? What's happening??
