I work at BC Women's Hospital, in Vancouver Canada. The only babies who are bathed early are those born to HIV positive mothers. I would have to check policy on how early. All other babies wait at least 6 hours for first bath. It takes at least this long for them to be stable enough for a bath. When I worked post partum I was in no hurry to bathe babies, and would rather parents do it or be present to watch. Saves time in the long run.
