Since we seem to be asking around about sleeping, breastfeeding and SIDS I'll add a long-time question I have:
Is there any knowledge out there on the percentages of SIDS in fully on-demand breastfed and routinely bedsharing infants? I mean, not counting feeding and sleeping arrangements of infants who've died the night they died, but looking at the cohort of ecological breastfed infants who routinely shared mom's bed (including bed-arrangements, adult related safety aspects) from birth on and then counting cases of SIDS.
Am I being too optimistic to expect this number to be extremely low?

Warmly,

Gonneke, IBCLC, LLLL in southern Netherlands who will be joining a discussion seminar for Dutch IBCLCs on the existence or not of nipple confusion.

Is there already any statictical data how SIDS rates and breastfeeding rates
(especially bf rates at 3, 6 months and so on) changed in the US after the
new AAP recommendations (those that included pacifier use and discouraged
bedsharing).
