I remember when my second child was a baby, I babysat for my best friend.
She was breastfeeding her baby and was gone for longer than she had
expected. Her baby was crying and so I tried to nurse her. She would not
take my breast. She knew that it was not her mother.

My sister also tried to nurse my baby one time. He would not nurse from her
because she was not his mother. Mom's have a particular scent that babies
know, also I think that the milk could even taste different. I do know
about the scent.

Has anyone read the book "Grapes of Wrath"? There is an incident where the
young girl who had a baby also breastfed an elderly man to keep him alive.
"Grapes of Wrath" is set in the depression and alot of people did not have
anything. It makes me think what I would do. What any of us would do if we
had to.
