How much is she leaking before feeds? Can she somehow try to feed after
a bit of "leaking" (as opposed to pumping off foremilk)? The mom I was
working with did see progress after quite a long time.
Last spring I worked with a mom whose babe was not latching on and she
was pumping about 144 ounces per day with a M_____ hand pump. Pumping
only for comfort. We were reluctant to try something I thought about
early on - a nipple sheild. In retrospect I think she would have been a
perfect candidate. Lots of cabbage and continuing to gradually stretch
out pumping seemed to make the difference in her case.
Might it be worth introducing a nipple shield to reduce stimulation? I
never would have brought this up a year ago. Now I think it *may* be
worth considering.
What does everyone else think?
