Dear Virginia,
I've found over the years that most health care professionals need to know
basically what new parents are needing to know except that we need to tell
HCP the "things" they can do/say to help new parents. Also, sometimes I've
found it helpful to share the "things" that can be said by HCP and the
devastating impact it can have on a new mom's confidence. I word it as
though I believe they already know this information so as to not point a
finger in case they have said it. Kind of like allow them to save face.
Enjoy. I hope you have a great experience. Try to have fun!
Best,
Debra Verzi, RN, IBCLC
