Dear Pardee: I can't help you with the reglan (metoclopramide) question,
but I have a suggestion about the trandate (labetalol). This is a
beta-blocker, and it is AAP compatible with breastfeeding. Dr. Hale's
book states that small amounts are secreted into milk. Unless anyone
else on Lactnet has had a personal experience or heard an anecdote about
a similar incident with a baby whose mother takes labetalol, you're
unlikely to get anything from the literature. The best way to be sure
that it's truly the drug which caused the problem is to reintroduce it.
If the baby reacts the same way, then that's pretty clear. If the
mother's blood pressure still needs treatment, then she can try one of
the other meds compatible with breastfeeding. Alicia. [log in to unmask]
