Wow, you have received some great suggestions for this class!
My 17yo daughter recently started a discussion in her lunchroom which may
help to illuminate a teen's way of thinking.
Being a H.S senior, these kids are very focused on college admissions and
this inevitably leads to a discussion of who is *smarter* and how they got
that way. My daughter made the statement that "breastfed kids are smarter".
The rest of her peer group, having never heard this, decided to conduct a
poll of all of the "smart" kids in the cafeteria at the time and *voila* they
were ALL breastfed. This was all of the scientific *proof* that they needed
and for the 10-15 girls and boys involved in this, they all *plan* to
breastfeed!
This, of course, led into a nice discussion with her and my 14yo son
regarding the basics of scientific research and the limits of extrapolating
the above data, the importance of research to breastfeeding support etc. It
definitely piqued their interest, for 5 minutes at least ;)!
