Elizabeth,
I have a friend who has a son diagnosed with PDD. She was told over and
over that the act of breastfeeding was very good and centering for kids
with PDD. He weaned himself at 2.5 and his problems seemed to be a lot
more apparent after that. One of the things her son (now 6.5) does with
as an OT excercise is to blow bubbles through a straw into his milk for
specified periods of time. This is supposed to be somewhat similar to
breastfeeding. My friend's son has had vast improvements since starting
Sensory Integration Therapy with an OT. My friend also wonders how he
would have been without BF.
