Is your client also taking Beclovent or other asthma medication with a
pump? Because cortisone-related inhaled Rx are known to promote fungal
growth. And Ventolin (a beta-adrenergic medication which use is to dilate
the bronchiolis rapidly and for short-term, the "emergency" medicine) is
rarely prescribed alone in active asthma cases; it is usually used in
conjonction with a cortisone-like substance, which effect is to reduce
the inflammation that is at the root of the asthma phenomemon (the
"long-term" medication). And the inhalation does the job almost as well
as the oral medication, without the side-effects, except for thrush. Your
client should carefully rinse her mouth after each use.
