Many HPV viruses do not cause warts. The viruses are very prevalent, and I hate to see this as another reason to discourage breastfeeding. My doctor just told me y'day that she gets 80 year old women who haven't had sex in decades show up with it on their pap smears (and they don't have any signs of cancer). While the HPV testing is good...what is also happening is a lot of young women are having to have procedures done--where many of them would have cleared it on their own, the concern is for those who would not (I work w/ one 28-year-old who was almost at the cancerous stage very quickly). Anyway, without going off topic, if we start discouraging women who test positive for HPV from BF, we aren't going to have a lot of breastfed babies left.
