Yes, it seems they don't like cold, dryness and mountains. The upper map 
shows the sightings of the hornet, starting from the black dot in 2004 
and expanding in larger circles every year.
The blueish map is a computer simulation showing the probability of 
finding hornets in the long run. The input data for this simulation are 
data about the hornets original habitat as well as data about the 
expansion in France so far.
Note the location of the  Pyrenees mountains and the alps.
