Need some help- A Mom w/ 2yr old reports what sounds to be a plugged nipple
pore; " looks like a blind pimple on the end of my nipple- no pain or signs of
inflammation; no signs of plugged duct or mastitis" ; she can feel a hardish
lump right at the spot.
I personally had experience with one of these at the end of nursing- after
heat, massage, and even picking the very end open with a sterile needle, was
able to express a small amount of solidified milk. My own child was weaning at
the time( at the ripe old age of 4 1/2), so I gave up bothering with it. I
since then had to have a cyst removed from the alveolar area that appears to
be related to that same nipple oppening that became plugged in tha past.
I have suggested to this mom to use heat, massage, and active nursing to open
this. She has had no luck. She did open the end of it with a sterile needle
and got a small amount of solidified milk out, but it seemed to have closed up
again. There seems to be no one around here to offer any other suggestions.
Her own MD has scheduled an ultrasound in 1wk to r/o a nipple cyst/tumor. One
MD even put her on Antibiotics even though there is no sx of inflammation. I
know that Susan Love had cleaned out nipple openings with success, but she has
moved. Any suggestions?
