On a related note: A while back (about a year ago?), the Nutrition Action
Healthletter (an advertising-free newsletter published by the Center for
Science in the Public Interest, CSPI, a non-profit group) had an article or
newsbrief about skim vs whole milk for children. I recall their conclusion
being that 1-2% milk is sufficient for young children, whole milk is not
necessary and possibly unhealthy, and skim milk is fine for older children.
(The newsletter isn't known for actively supporting breastfeeding, but
otherwise seems sound.) If need be, I can look up the article.
