>>I saw another mother G3P3 today who was complaining and complaining about
being cold. Said she'd been cold since delivering 1 mo ago. I wonder if the
concept of "mother roasting" seen in so many cultures stems from an attempt
to protect women from the phenom. of cold due to thyroid fluctuations. Does
any thing else cause this symptom?<<

Barbara, I may have mentioned this in the past, but I "suffered" from attacks
of chills from about 3 weeks pp for a couple of months after the birth of
each of my 4 babies. It just seemed to be a phase that I had to go through in
hormonal readjustment, but it was mighty uncomfortable. During this time I
had to be very careful about sudden temperature changes, like the fog coming
in, or getting out of bed at night--- these triggered violent attacks of
chills that could take 30 minutes or longer to resolve even with tremendous
bundling after the attack. Most importantly, at least for me, no effect on
my milk supply.
