Another hot button issue - nepotism and conflict of interest laws.
Many years ago, MT had a bee inspector who taught at MSU (our sister institution). He did bee inspections in summer, hired student assistant inspectors. One of my friends worked for him - spent his entire summer working one bee operation with 'intense inspections' including all the way through honey extraction.
NY - you've told all of us about the dust-ups there.
Some states even allow commercial beekeepers to inspect their competitors - you can image the problems that causes.
Nepotism - couple years ago, I found TX law with really strict rules- obviously no close family; but it was so specific, just knowing a beekeeper was almost a problem. Gene has yet to tell me what caused that language to be put into their bee law.
